Xtensory Inc has developed a standardized software interface
for virtual reality I/O devices called XVS-SyncLink. SyncLink
simplifies adding and maintaining VR sensor support in
applications and tools. We are looking for additional beta
customers to help ensure its usability with a variety of
applications.
SyncLink works on a variety of UNIX workstation platforms,
such as Silicon Graphics and DEC Alpha. It can be used with a
variety of APIs such as Performer, OpenGL and PHIGS.
SyncLink is a C++ class library, and among the devices
supported are sensors from Ascension, Polhemus, Logitech,
Spaceball, and Origin Instruments, plus gloves from Virtual
Technologies and VPL. All are handled in a device-
independent way including conversion of data into a standard
format. Filtering operations such as origin offsets, tolerance
levels, and scaling are also included. Device-dependent features
can be accessed via the derived class for each supported device.
SyncLink makes it easy to add VR device control to
applications.
If you are interested in being a Beta test site please contact
me via e-mail.
Thanks,
Paul Cutt
